THE MYTH GOES ON LIKE THIS -

For Artemis who is associated with Deers (one of her symbols),wounding the pregnant deer was as if she had wounded with an arrow her own skin. The mother deer died while Artemis was trying to heal her wounds.

For the deer baby to survive, Artemis, covered her body
with the dead
deer and using her powers,a baby sprung from Artemis in full body armor.
A girl –

Known to be the virgin among the Gods she had to hide the child and protect it for obviously it had a great power.
A child of a Goddess and an animal.

The baby Girl is sent to the island of Pharos under the protection of Eidothea, the sea nymph and daughter of Proteus.

Readers of FindingEidothea.blogspot, what powers you think the Girl has?

  1. Given her own lineage & that of her Nanny, along with the influences of life on Pharos, the nubile & versatile Girl may have great stamina, running or swimming, hunting, shape shifting and foretelling the future and would also have a strong bond with and great compassion for animals of both the forest and sea. Surrounded by the lively trade community and not in contact with her own Mother or Grandparents, she may have hung out on the beach with, and gotten to know, Eido’s Dad, who may have been the one who beckoned her to jump from the rough stone deck into the sea……Jump Maria, Jump.
